in which lots of money goes into research to indicate that people with Rheumatoid Arthritis are "maladaptive" "catastrophizers"
“The findings suggest that RA patients display a fairly general hyperalgesia to mechanical and thermal stimuli across several body sites.” Hyperalgesia is an abnormally high sensitivity to pain. In other words, it’s a low pain threshold. These doctors claim that “maladaptive physiological responses to stress” play a part in the hyperalgesia of RA."
Seems like they could have used this money to modify moon boots for people who experience joint damage any time they engage in any basic weight-bearing activity. (James, I know NASA sent you those rocks, will they send me footwear?) But maybe its cheaper to prove that everyone is just a wimp?
In other news, the sky is falling and I have a hang nail.
