After listening to TAL's show on Mapping (thislife.org), I went to their website to view images of Denis Wood's maps and discovered not only that his maps were as thrilling as I had imagined, but that TAL itself has an official Flickr site!
Woods calls himself a cartographer of everyday life--a phenomenologist essentially He mapped leaf light in a neighborhood. How Nabokovian is that? Woods' book is called The Power of Maps.
